Lights, Camera, Fashion

February 13, 2011

This weekend, I left the city and headed back to my hometown on Long Island for a little R&R and to spend some time with my mom.  As the weekend wound to an end, I spent my Sunday (today) procrastinating repacking and decided that the best solution would be to surf the web.  That’s when I stumbled upon the greatest discovery since chocolate…a purse that doubles as a camera bag.  This super fashionable bag has removable padding that allows the bag to switch from protecting your gear to holding “your life” in it.
Although some of you may be rolling your eyes, to bloggers or photographers to not have to lug an ugly camera bag around is a luxury.  I just HAD to share my find :).

Hope you all have a very happy Valentine’s Day tomorrow!

Be My Valentine

Valentine's Day

Flowers. Check. Chocolates. Check. Valentine’s Day Gift. Check. Your Valentine. Maybe Check. Reservations. Check.  The only thing left on the list is the outfit, and that is where I come in to help.  At a loss of what to wear for Valentine’s Day.  A simple nude colored dress is the perfect base.  It is appropriate for anything you may have planned for your special day, and who doesn’t like to play dress up?  I paired this dress with Christian Louboutin Star Prive 120 Slingbacks, which add a little edge, and simple jewelry so that you do not look like a vegas showgirl with too much going on.  Last but not least, the Tucker Animal Print Faux-Fur Jacket, for a little final pizzazz to stand out from the crowd.

What do you think of my Valentine’s Day ensemble?

I woke up this morning, rolled over, and checked my twitter only to see a tweet from InStyle Magazine that shoe designer Brian Atwood is getting ready to launch his first lower-price line this fall. I nearly fell out of bed.  Could this be true or am I still dreaming?

Today, Atwood unveiled a first look of the line, named B Brian Atwood.  “I would definitely say there’s three kinds of aesthetics melted together: Upper East Side poshness, mixed with downtown cool, along with a Parisian sophistication,” the designer told WWD of his collection.

The shoes will range between $200 and $600 (lower than his original line, which is $540 to $1,430) and will feature blue-green fringe booties, purple pumps and red t-strap heels. B Brian Atwood shoes hits Saks and Barneys in August.

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Gold

February 7, 2011

This past weekend my roommate and I ventured into the heart of Chelsea to the Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show on 18th Street where we we showered with everything from vintage Chanel to vintage Pucci to furs of all kinds. I felt like I died and was sent to vintage heaven.

Clothes draped thousands of mannequins and bags overflowing on tables, I didn’t know where to look first. Luckily my eyes focused on a golden whistle that was once a container of solid perfume. I immediately snagged the pendant to add to my collection. Although the show was a little overwhelming and the pieces were not bargain prices, had I had more money to spend, I would have been in terrible trouble.

Don’t worry, you can still catch the show again as it runs three times a year; the first weekend of February, the third weekend of April, and the second weekend of October. Will I be seeing you there?

You Can Be My Punk Rock Princess….

February 4, 2011

Although these shoe look very similar to the Christian Louboutin studded collection, I can’t help but share these with you to achieve the same Punk Rock Glam look at a fraction of the price.  These shoes would totally look great with a pair a jeans and a sweater or blazer when you are trying spice up a dressed down look.  And what makes this shoe even better?  They are on sale!  The once $220 priced shoe are now only $50.  The only catch is that they are available in limited sizes.

What do you think of them?  Will you be adding them to your closet?

To purchase: Candela; Cost: $50 (limited sizes available).

Timeless Statements

Every feminine outfit needs a touch of masculinity for balance, whether is be boyfriend jeans, a blazer, or an over-sized man’s watch.  Even though my wrists are teeny tiny, I love a good man’s watch to complete my “look”.  It’s just enough flair to compliment your outfit without taking too much away from it.  I personally have #1, wear it almost every day and receive compliments on it almost every time.  Trust us, as Martha Stewart would put it, “it’s a good thing.”
